Terms of service

The service

Cognabase gives each paying account one private PostgreSQL database with the limits listed on the pricing page (1 database, 5 GB of storage, up to 10 connections at once). You reach it through an encrypted Cloudflare tunnel.

Payment and plan length

Plans are paid through Beacons. A monthly payment adds 31 days and an annual payment adds 366 days to your plan. Plans do not renew on their own; we email you before yours ends. If a plan ends, the database keeps working for a 3-day grace period, after which logins are paused until you renew.

Your data

The data in your database is yours. We do not read, sell or share it. We keep nightly backups for 7 days so we can recover from a hardware problem. We do not delete a database because a plan lapsed; we delete it when you ask us to.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service for anything illegal, to store material you have no right to hold, or to attack other systems. We may pause a database that is being used this way and will tell you why.

No uptime guarantee

We work to keep the service running but do not offer a formal uptime guarantee. Keep your own backups of anything you cannot afford to lose; pg_dump works at any time.
